In March the readers of Ilta-Sanomat had the possibility to apply to a group that would be testing underwear from the new women’s line of the Finnish underwear brand the other danish guy. Over 2500 women sent in their application, and finally 27 women of varying sizes and ages were chosen for the project.
Each tester was sent two products from the new collection, and their mission was to test them in everyday use for two weeks. At the end of the testing period the women got to share their experiences about the collection.

When applying for the test group, the women were asked to describe the challenges they had faced earlier when looking for suitable underwear. The testers revealed that they had endured problems regarding the fit, comfort and durability of underwear.
Katri, 35, summarizes the frustrations that plagued many of her fellow testers:
– "Breathable and flattering underwear that stays put has been a challenge to find. After long-time use and a considerable amount of washes, the fabric usually gets into poor shape. This is especially true for underwear made of natural fibres, which I have used a lot thanks to their breathability."
Comfortable, but still beautiful.
The aforementioned problems are precisely what the other danish guy aimed to solve with the new women’s collection. The underwear is designed by women for women, and it is the result of years of thorough consumer research and product development.
Based on the responses from the test group, the mission has been successful. 92% of the testers reported finding the newv collection's underwear comfortable. Particular praise was given to the flattering fit of the underwear.
– "The thong model from the collection beautifully accentuated the shape of my buttocks, and the waistband was neither too tight nor constrictive. The bra had a v-cut both in the front and back, which looked beautiful and timeless," says 28-year-old Saara.
The test group was asked: which of the given promises did the underwear keep?
- 96 % Light and silky fabric
- 88 % Breathable
- 84 % Undetectable seams
- 72 % Cannot be seen through clothes
- 68 % Designed for women’s bodies
- 64 % Don’t feel like anything
- 64 % Keep moisture away from the skin
- 52 % Aren’t too tight nor constrictive
A clear majority, 96%, gave the appearance of the products they tested a minimum school grade of 8. Although the other danish guy's underwear features a modern design without the lace frills typical of the women's section, it was praised for being sensually feminine.
Furthermore, testers were delighted with the smooth and durable fabric of the underwear. The material used in the underwear is made from abandoned fishing nets and other industrial nylon waste. Anna, 36, commented the following:
– "The material was really pleasant and not sweaty. It was also wonderfully soft."
Styles for every taste
The new collection includes panties with various cuts and leg lengths. It's a matter of personal preference which style one finds most appealing, but the majority of the test group seemed to find an option that suited them.
Thong-style panties even surprised testers who usually preferred to wear more covering underwear:
– "I approach thongs with caution, as I thought the style would be too string-like. However, I noticed immediately after putting these on that the panties fit excellently and surprisingly looked good on me. The edge of the panties settled just right at the waist, and the panties also provided some support for the lower abdomen", says Kirsi, 48.

Many test group members mentioned wearing the boxer briefs under dresses as "safety pants." Satu, 40, says:
– "The length of the boxer legs was perfect for keeping warm in winter and preventing the discomfort caused by thigh chafing in summer".
Additionally, the collection includes two different styles of bras. Some of the bustier testers wished for more support for sports activities, but the bras were deemed excellent for leisure use by the group.
– "The top was wonderful because you barely noticed it was on. A very comfortable piece of clothing. Additionally, it looked good and youthful even on a retiree's body", praises 66-year-old Ritva.
A Pleasant Surprise
Overall, 88% of the testers reported being satisfied with the other danish guy's new collection of underwear. The same number of respondents also believed they would continue using the products in the future. An impressive 92% said they were ready to recommend the new collection to their friends.
