About the underwear
My underwear is ruined! What could have caused this?
Every now and then we receive feedback about underwear that have been through considerable turmoil. It might be about a seam that’s coming apart, a mysterious hole that has appeared, or that the underwear has lost its elasticity, smoothness or colour – or all of the above at once.
Unfortunately, the reasons are often associated with simple human errors. Most mistakes are committed during the laundry process: too high washing temperature, tumble drying, strong detergents, bleach, ironing the fabric, or different combinations of the aforementioned. It’s also a good idea to make sure that your underwear is safe from getting caught in the lock of the washing machine door – trust us, we’ve seen the damage.
Even valuable, high-quality underwear cannot withstand unnecessarily harsh conditions. At the same time we know that sometimes, mistakes happen even to those who take impeccable care of their belongings. The seams do however not break that easily in normal use, and our quality control is able to identify the reasons behind various damages quite precisely.
Some type of tiny bumps have started to appear on the surface of my underwear, despite me taking excellent care of them. How come?
The phenomenon you are referring to is called the pilling effect, and it’s commonly caused by friction from some kind of external 'element'. This element may be, for example, a staple, a wash label, a velcro strip, the back seam of new jeans, or sometimes even the laser-cut fabric mark on the inside of your pants. Repetitious rubbing will loosen the fibres with time, which shows up as small bumps on the surface of the fabric. Fortunately, 'pilling' does not affect the product's properties in any way, but is more of an aesthetic drawback.
What makes your underwear different from brands like Tommy Hilfiger or Calvin Klein, and why are they worth the price?
The core of this answer is quite simple: we did not want to settle for making underwear the way they have always been made. We searched for (and found) the best possible yarn and wove it into a first-class fabric that makes the perfect material for underwear.
The material we use is made of abandoned fishing nets and other industrial plastic waste that definitely shouldn’t be ending up in oceans. As the material isn’t commonly used yet, the cost of it tends to be high. Even though the purchase price is more expensive for us, we wanted to take the knowing risk. Fashion brands cannot afford to waste resources and promote fast fashion, instead we need to invest in even more ethical materials and ways of production.
Traditionally, underwear brands use mostly cotton as material for their products, the environmental impacts of which are pretty steep: about 10 000 litres of water are used per produced kilogram of cotton.
So why is it worth paying more? Those who have invested in our products know what they get and have made strong testimonials in favour of our underwear. Our product and customer satisfaction rate of almost 100% tells you something. Most of our customers have been addicted to our underwear since first use, simply because it doesn't feel like anything – neither on your body nor on your ecological conscience.
Where are these made?
Genuine TODG-underwear is made in two European countries: the yarn is made in Italy, while the fabric is woven and the product finalised in the best European factory in Portugal, a country with a very high level of know-how in the textile industry. Asia and Turkey are not options for us, as everything we do has to pass our ethical and moral standards.
Is it true that these are made of fishing nets that have been abandoned in the oceans, or is it all just greenwashing? How would fishing nets even make good material for underwear?
Yes, they really are. Actually, the material of the thread we use also contains other types of industrial plastic waste, which would end up in fragile nature and waterways if it was merely dumped on landfill sites. Nylon6 is separated from the waste, essentially making it the purest possible raw material for us. For those of you who are curious about the details of this process, we have written an entire section devoted to it.
When it comes to the comfort of any material, it’s of course a matter of opinion. Our reviews do however inform us that we have been able to keep our most important promise: creating underwear that doesn’t feel like a thing. Try them and you’ll know.
Can I trust your size chart?
When you use our sizing charts it is good to note that charts may vary between our different models of underwear. In other words, make sure that you are viewing the size chart that corresponds to the product you intend to invest in. The size you usually use gives you a pretty good idea of which size to pick when it comes to our underwear as well.
Like all other size charts in the world, ours is directional and as precise as possible. You see, there is something that no sizing chart can sufficiently take into account: all bodies have their unique traits, curves, preferences, and habits. These things all amount to a specific, individual wish about how a garment should sit on the body. Contrary to how most size charts portray different sizes and bodies, the human body does not grow by a linear scale – among users of the same clothing size, there are countless types of bodies, none of which look exactly the same.
How should I wash these?
To ensure your underwear stays in impeccable condition through the years, follow these instructions: wash in temperatures no higher than 40 degrees celsius, use a mild detergent, choose a gentle washing program and a gentle spin. Wash together with similar colors and avoid using bleaching and stain-removing products, as many of these are corrosive. Do not use a tumble dryer – heat will destroy the elasticity of the material and is the number one cause of deformed, washed-out and slackened underwear.
While different environment protection organisations urge people to reduce how often they wash their clothes, we strongly feel that clean underwear is an environmental act as such.
Is the material suitable for atopic skin?
We won’t engage in guesswork, since no-one of us has the required dermatological knowledge. What we do know is that the material is soft and smooth, but even so it wasn’t at all suitable for one (1) of our customers who suffers from eczema.
If you have had bad experiences with synthetic fibres or even the slightest inkling that the ingredients of our fabric might irritate your skin, it might be best not to take the risk.
We apologize for the lack of a more scientific answer to this question. We do however promise that the material as such does not contain any chemicals known to cause irritation.
Can I dry these in a tumble dryer?
No, because the temperature of a tumble dryer rises far above 40 degrees celsius and excess heat will likely ruin the fibers in a way that makes the underwear lose its elasticity.
You’ll be happy to know that these underwear don’t actually need tumble dryers in the first place. The breathable fabric dries fast in room temperature, and those who are truly impatient will put them on straight from the washing machine.
Will my white underwear remain white, or do they turn yellowish over time?
White pieces of clothing have a tendency to lose their brightness and turn a bit greyish over time. The same applies to our underwear. If you notice any yellowing, it’s often local and best tackled by use of a stain remover. Most modern stain removers and bleaches work perfectly well in washing temperatures as low as 30 degrees celsius.
Do you have jockstraps or strings for men?
An excellent question. For now they are but a wild daydream on our designer’s table, even if we know that both models surely have their loyal users. When the demand grows large enough, anything is possible.
About responsibility
Isn’t it a bit hypocritical to use synthetic fibres? They say that fleece and other technical clothes release small pieces of plastic into the waterways when they are washed?
Our underwear is made of recycled, or more specifically regenerated, polyamide. You are right in stating that microplastics are released from textiles made of synthetic fibres such as polyester, fleece or acryl. Fleece is the worst one of all synthetic fibres, since its fibres are so weak and thin that whenever you wash them, they release up to 200 000 microplastic particles smaller than five millimetres.
The fibre we utilise is completely different, and is not to be paired together with the aforementioned enemies of the oceans. If you are skeptical, you can read all about it in this section.
There are of course washing bags that have been designed to prevent microplastics from ending up in waterways during washing. A funny curiosity is that these washing bags, used by e.g. Patagonia, are made of the exact same material as our underwear.
While we are at it, we feel it’s worth mentioning that cotton is far from an innocent alternative. The fact that every produced kilogram of cotton uses more than 10 000 litres of water is an unsustainable fact, because where cotton is grown, water is needed for food production as well.
Do you provide bags that prevent the release of microplastics?
Not yet, but we are planning on making them a thing. However, the most effective washing bags are made of the exact same material as our underwear. You could liken it to wearing two condoms on top of each other. But that too is, of course, a matter of preference.
About ordering
Can I get the logo of a company or team of my choosing on the underwear?
Unfortunately, we do not offer prints, embroidery, or other customisations on our products. Our collections are produced without post-processing, and our factory does not manufacture personalised versions of the garments.
We also do not recommend modifying the products independently, as printing or embroidery may affect the material properties and durability of the garment. Any such modifications will also void the manufacturer’s product liability for the altered product.
Oops! I accidentally ordered the wrong size. Can I swap them for the right one?
If you notice that you’ve ordered the wrong size before your order has been fulfilled, the best way to go about things is to contact us through your order confirmation or here. Due to our automated product picking we are unable to change what items that will be added to your order, so in cases like this we will cancel your order, refund you, and you will be able to place a new order.
If you find that the size is wrong only after your order has arrived, the situation is a bit different. Firstly, we only accept unopened product packages. Underwear is a hygiene product, which means that once the packaging is opened, we can no longer put them up for sale. Please note that in cases where your own (however human) mistake results in a need to return the product, the shipping costs are your responsibility.
Our best piece of advice is to only order one pair if you are uncertain about size, model, or color.
If you do, however, find yourself in a situation where you ordered multiple pieces of underwear (e.g. a set of three) and would like to change all of them to a different size, it is important that you understand that the money-back guarantee only applies to one pair. This means that you will be refunded only for that one pair of underwear. The 100-day money-back guarantee does not equal a 100-day return guarantee.
Why haven’t I received an order confirmation?
The order confirmation is sent to the email address you provided while placing your order. Please ensure that you provide the correct email address and that it is spelled correctly.
If you are using gmail, commercial emails may end up on a different tab or even in the spam folder.
Begin by checking these things. If you still cannot find your email, please contact us.
Why did the gift card I bought not show up in my email?
When you order a gift card, make sure that you have given the correct email address when you placed your order and check for any spelling mistakes.
It could also be that the email-platform you use is so modern (e.g. the updated gmail), that these kinds of commercial emails end up on a different tab or in your spam folder.
Start out by checking these things. If you still cannot find your email, please contact us.
What difference does it make if I size up in my underwear, just in case?
When it comes to underwear, choosing the right size actually matters a lot. In order for your user experience to be on par with what we promise – that you won’t feel a thing – it is pivotal that you choose a size that is right for you.
Universally speaking, no body needs more loose-fitting underwear than the next one. We always encourage you to consult our size guides, as they are especially important to follow when it comes to our products. The material of our underwear is such that your own size truly won’t feel tight or start running up your things, and you don’t have to think about leaving some room to grow into. The user experience is at its best when you buy what truly fits you; sizing up by even a tad just will result in the underwear not feeling like they should. It is in situations like these that some unwelcome sensations start making an appearance: rolling, drooping, climbing and chafing.
Can I order for someone other than myself? Like a gift?
By all means!
Do you deliver globally?
Yes!
Why is the recipient’s phone number needed?
After your order has been fulfilled, the parcel is handed to a courier. When the parcel arrives at its destination, the recipient receives a notification that the parcel is able for pickup or that it will be delivered upon agreement. If the phone number on the parcel belongs to anyone else than the recipient, the notification will naturally not reach the recipient. This results in that the package risks not being picked up/delivered and, in the worst case, it will be returned to its point of origin. By providing all necessary information you avoid necessary costs and trouble.
How long does it take to process my order if I purchase right away?
We don’t like to waste time; normally orders are processed within 1–2 working days and given to our logistics partner for delivery as soon as the order has been fulfilled. The typical time window from processing to delivery is about 3–5 working days. During big holidays, like Christmas or Father’s Day, our team may be a bit more busy than usual. Even if we employ a house full of committed and hard-working people, they are not robots (thank god), and thus the processing might take a bit longer than usual.
Can I order a pair of underwear to just try on?
Underwear is considered a hygiene product, which means opened packages cannot be returned or placed back on sale.
If you are unsure about the right size, we recommend consulting our size guide and ordering one pair to try first. Once you find the right fit and style for you, you can confidently expand your collection so that not even the most congested laundry department can stand between you and a luxurious fit.
How do I know that you are not sending me someone’s used and returned underwear?
We sell new products only, never used or returned underwear.
Because underwear is a hygiene product, opened items are never returned to stock. Any returns or product defects are handled separately through our quality control process to ensure the consistently high quality of our products.
You can therefore trust that every product you receive is completely new.
Can I get these from any retailers?
Our products are available exclusively through our online store.
If you are unsure about the right size, colour, or style, we recommend consulting the size guides found on our product pages and ordering one pair to try first. Once you find the fit and model that suits you best, you can confidently build your collection.
About returns
Is the money-back guarantee just bullshit?
No. If you truly are dissatisfied with our underwear, you have every right to return them and get a refund.
The following list contains some things that are good to keep in mind when you want to utilise the 100-day money-back guarantee. We commit to refund 100% of the purchase price if:
1. You contact us within 100 days of your purchase. In that time you have been able to tell whether our underwear are the right for you or not.
2. You aren’t trying to conceal a mistake of your own, e.g. that you have opened the product package, only to realize you ordered the wrong size.
3. You contact us through team@theotherdanishguy.com and ask for a refund
4. You return the product to us*
*The return has to reach us within 10 days from the date when you issued your wish to return the product and utilise the money-back guarantee.
## Note! The money-back guarantee does NOT apply to Stealth-products. ##
Why does the 100-day money-back guarantee apply only to the first pair of purchased underwear?
The 100-day money-back guarantee was created to minimize your risk as our customer. It applies only to the first pair of purchased underwear, and this, in turn, minimizes our risk. One pair of
What works perfectly for one might do nothing for the other. If you need some extra courage, take a look at the testimonials our customers have written for us.
Why do you want the product back if I make a claim for a refund?
We want the products back so that we can analyse what might be wrong with them. This is the best way for us to be able to improve our product and our mission.
Are shipping costs refunded?
We refund the value of the returned products only, original shipping costs are non-refundable.
We recommend using a return method that includes tracking. This ensures the shipment can be traced if necessary and allows the return to be processed smoothly.
Do you accept damaged products as returns?
The right of return does not apply to products that have been damaged due to external factors, improper use, or handling that goes against the care instructions.
We reserve the right to reject returns in cases of suspected misuse. In genuine cases, however, there is no need for concern.

Just out of curiosity
A bit suspicious that you seem to only publish positive reviews. Where is all the negative feedback, do you just leave it unpublished?
We publish all customer reviews, including critical ones. If you browse through the reviews long enough, you’ll also come across experiences where everything has not gone perfectly.
We see no reason to censor feedback. On the contrary, constructive criticism helps us continuously improve both our products and the way we operate.
It’s worth noting, however, that the reviews shown on our product pages do not represent all the feedback we receive. Some feedback comes via email, but only a small portion of those messages are suitable for publication as they are. In many cases, the messages are also anonymous or sent from addresses we cannot reply to or verify against an actual customer account.
Why is the brand called “the other danish guy” if it’s a Finnish company?
Here’s the short version:
Once in New York, my friend's ass was chafed during a morning run in the Central Park, resulting in a monkey butt, requiring tons of vaseline. At the end of the day, my friend ended up “treating” his well-rubbed buttocks in the ladies’ room of a Manhattan club.
He literally got caught with his pants around his ankles, understandably causing quite a bit of confusion among the poor female customers who were unfortunate enough to witness it. The restaurant staff announced quite loudly that this performance was brought to you by ”the other danish guy, who has some problems”.
Once we established that a life without good underwear is no worthy life at all, we decided to make top-tier underwear and name the brand after the event that sparked the idea.
Watch the full video about our origin story.
Where do the customer reviews in your online store come from? Looks like five-star ratings only, which seems unrealistic.
We can assure you that every review is written by a real human who has purchased our products. A few weeks after an order has been placed, we request a review from all customers who have consented to receive marketing emails from us. If you have only permitted emails regarding your order- and delivery progress, you will not receive the review request. If you want to submit other kind of feedback, please contact us via team@theotherdanishguy.com.
Do your products give electric shocks because of static energy? For example nylon produces nasty shocks while in a car.
Excellent question. We are well aware of the phenomenon, but truthfully we have not conducted any scientific research that we could cite in our answer. What we do know, however, is that thousands of people have invested in and used our products, and even with the growing amount of customer feedback we have never heard from someone having problems with electric shocks from our products.
We have an excellent idea! How could we start working together?
We receive a great amount of different proposals for collaborations and most of the time the answer is no, simply because the ideas do not align with our playbook and mission. If after careful consideration the idea still feels like it would truly foster something meaningful and produce worth where it is needed the most, the likelihood of an affirmative answer grows.
